The Power of Improvising

Victor Birkan – Pianist, Composer, and Neo-Classical Improviser

Victor Birkan is a pianist and composer whose rare gift for classical improvisation sets him apart on the global stage. Born in St. Petersburg and classically trained, Victor was drawn early on to the art of improvisation — a practice rarely encouraged in academic circles. Over the years, he developed a unique ability to transform spontaneous emotion into moving, fully formed compositions.

After a period working in other fields, Victor returned to music in 2018, sharing his performances on YouTube. His channel now counts about 40,000 subscribers and over 1000000 views, alongside thousands of streams on Spotify, Amazon, and global internet radio such as One World Radio. His
collaborations, including work with Yellow Roze Records, have brought his music to audiences across many countries.

Birkan’s performances are defined by pure, unprepared classical improvisation — no digital effects, only piano and raw emotion. The music emerges in the moment, balancing timeless melody with
subtle modern touches. Listeners often describe the experience as deeply personal, as if the music were written just for them.

In 2025, Victor released “Metorefet” (“A Crazy One”), an intimate collaboration with singer-songwriter Nofar Margaliot. Blending classical piano with modern pop, the track highlights Birkan’s
next chapter: uniting musical worlds, embracing new collaborations, and creating an original, unforgettable sound.

Victor Birkan has a new single out and its tones are wonderfully artistic, as are its flowing peaks and troughs of vibrancy, like a dune across the widest of deserts, or the dance of wind and sand, perhaps the movement of the moon and stars on a warm summers...
